The Venue Series: Austin, Texas

This is the fourth post in our “Venue Series,” where we share our favorite event venues in cities across the U.S. and explain why we love them.

It’s no secret that Austin, Texas is an economic powerhouse. According to The Milken Institute, a non-partisan think tank, Austin ranks second on its 2016 list of “Best Performing Cities.”

Add a thriving economy and a penchant for hosting big-time events like SWXW, to a reputation for world-class culture, food and a unique brand of “weird” and you have all the ingredients for an awesome event locale. Below are our five favorite venues in Austin for any event you could dream up:

Why We Love It: Palm Door is a SXSW favorite and a highly versatile venue. With indoor space, outdoor space and concert space right in the heart of Austin, it can handle pretty much any type of event. Palm Door also has a nearby location described as an “urban loft event space” for smaller events that accommodates indoor and outdoor event options.

The Neighborhood: Downtown

Capacity: 125 – 1,100

Event Type: Customer advisory board, galas, sales kick-off, internal offsites, small conference

Why We Love It: The Bullock Museum, located next to the University of Texas campus, features the long and rich history of Texas throughout its halls and exhibits. The lobby and rotunda ooze a Texas sensibility: The site features a 35-foot-tall lone star sculpture and a floor terrazzo representing the state’s history around a campfire. (You’ve gotta see it to believe it.) The museum offers a wide variety of clean, refined event spaces ranging from small meeting rooms to large open spaces. It’s a unique and memorable venue for both local and out-of-town guests.
