This week, we sat down with Hana Abaza of Uberflip to get two quick-hitting action-packed tips surrounding event success strategy.
DoubleDutch: How do you extend the engagement generated through the mobile app once the event is over?
Hana Abaza: The key for us is thoughtful segmentation and relevant content. It comes down to engaging the right people in the right way. This means taking the time to identify their interests and what they would be most likely to benefit from.
It also boils down to good marketing principles – don’t send people stuff they don’t want. Don’t just automate a marketing program without looking at the people first. At the end of the day, bad marketing is still bad marketing event if it’s automated. But judging by the follow up I receive from the many events I attend, very few marketers take the time to do this. And in some cases they may not even have the data to identify the key factors of engagement.
DD: What’s the most successful strategy you’ve used to get attendees engaged in the app during the event?
HA: Honestly, the most effective thing for us is one-on-one engagement. The more engaged individuals on our team are via the app the more we can interact on a personal level with other attendees. There’s nothing better than the moment when you finally meet someone you’ve been chatting on social with — because, after all, the app is like a private social network fo the event. It’s the perfect place to start a conversation and it’s an easy transition to take it offline and meet in person.
