blog-must-attend-events

As an event marketer, you spend a ton of time thinking about how to get people to attend your events. But, have you ever taken a second to pause and consider what events you should be attending to become a more well rounded, strategic marketer?

We probably don’t need to tell you that no matter who you are—from a newly minted events intern to a seasoned CMO—events provide a rich opportunity to meet new people and find new inspiration within your career.

To help you get started, we looked at the best events out there and picked the top five “must attend” events of 2017 to accelerate your path to becoming a strategic event marketer.

1) Marketo Marketing Nation Summit

When: April 23-26, 2017

Where: San Francisco, CA

Why: All. Things. Marketing. This is the conference that covers everything and brings people from all walks of marketing life. We’re biased, but we’re also very fond of San Francisco.

2) Content Marketing World

When: September 5-8, 2017

Where: Cleveland, OH

Why: Learn how a content marketer thinks and creates the amazing content their audiences crave. You can apply this to your events and use it to think of new ways to repurpose your content when the event is over.

3) Experiential Marketing Summit

When: May 3-5, 2017

Where: Chicago, IL

Why: Hear the latest ways to turn your event into an amazing experience from the best of the best in the events industry. Don’t miss the panel titled, “How To Build An Event for Instagram” to help you improve the social activity at your events.

4) Web Summit

When: November 6-9, 2017

Where: Lisbon, Portugal

Why: This is the mother of all tech conferences with something for everyone. To top it off, they have some of the biggest names in tech and media speaking every year. If you’re in tech, this is one of the best. Also, Lisbon.

5) #eventlife

When: May and June, 2017

Where: Frankfurt, Germany; San Francisco, CA; San Diego, CA

Why: Ok, we know this is our show, but these events are going to be a fun and informative gathering of your peers and other marketers to talk about event strategy and swap tips and tricks in our industry.  The events are either casual breakfasts or happy hours so you don’t have to kill an entire day (or three) of work.

The good news is, no matter what events you attend this year (and you should attend many), you will always walk away with new ideas and experiences that can enrich your own events and your own skills. Keep your eyes open and have fun!
